Village of Haverstraw : Short Clove Road Update - Halfway Done and Some!!!

Good evening everybody and how are you?

Last March in 2009 when the Short Clove Pass was a few “short” weeks underway, I made a drive-by video with my old Canon digi camera and documented the beginning of this major architectural structure in Rockland County.

It’s hard to believe that was ten months ago, it seemed like yesterday?! Anyhow, thats good news for everybody because after months of hard work, favorable construction weather and conditions (so far fingers still crossed) the NYS DOT is ahead of schedule and will complete the project this summer in June!

If you have ever talked to me, you know my feelings on this long overdue project. After many tragic deaths and near historic catastrophes with near misses of trains, Short Clove Road will finally close down for good.

- All emergency vehicles will be able to get into the village w/o being stopped by the train. Side note to that, the State promised Haverstraw the expansion of the Gurnee tunnel to completely help the Village traffic flow but, that is still on hold for now.

-Potential entrepreneurs can invest in the Village because now commercial traffic can get downtown much easier.

-Ease traffic on Maple Avenue which is becoming more and more of a dangerous situation and needs to be completely redone with improved lighting, sidewalks, bike path and more commerical business’ down towards the corner where all the old factories are north of Mariella’s pizza.

Enjoy the video update!
