Rockland County Real Estate: Sales 21% Higher in 2009
Hey there everybody!!
Check out this good news story…
A surge in under contract properties in June, as compared to June 2008, appears to be a strong indication that the housing market in Rockland county has stabilized and begun to recover. Units under contract are 21% higher in Rockland County.
Although this is not yet apparent in year to date or second quarter figures, data for June indicates that units sold were virtually equal to those of last June. Another indicator of a recovering market was an approximately 10% drop in available inventory in both counties.
“First time buyers are beginning to take advantage of the $8,000 tax credit, the historically low mortgage interest rates and attractive home prices,” observed Maryann Tercasio, newly elected President of the Greater Hudson Valley Multiple Listing Service. “The strongest segment of the market is the homes that could be characterized as starter homes” noted Ms. Tercasio.
