In the 1980’s Woody Allen chose Piermont as a location for the filming of “The Purple Rose of Cairo”….the “joke” was that Piermont was shabby enough to be used for the row style homes in his period film.

Today, only 25 years later all of the older homes have been restored and the old “Continental Can” factory on the “pier” has been converted into Luxury condominiums with stunning river views. Several marinas offer the boating enthusiast plenty of river opportunity. Piermont is well known throughout the tri-state area as a home to many fine restaurants including award-wining Peter Kelly’s “Xavier’s” and “The Freelance Cafe and Wine Bar”. Well known musical artists from the 60’s and 70’s such as Melanie or Janis Ian can often be seen performing at “The Turning Point”.
