The name says it all, as this hamlet of almost 16,000 residents is certainly a gem. Originally called “Muddy Creek” legend has it that the name was changed back in the late 1800’s so that the rail conductor would not have to yell out “Next stop Muddy Creek” because it may give the wrong impression to interested new residents. Pearl River has a real “Americana” feel to its Main Street (Central Avenue), even offering an old fashioned bandstand in the Central Avenue Park. Summer concerts and 4th of July fireworks are always a great draw, but not as great as the Pearl River St. Patrick’s Day Parade, which garners more than 30,000 visitors each year.

Many fine restaurants have sprung-up over the years including Louie’s on The Avenue which offers superb steaks and chops. Many Irish Pubs offer lots of camaraderie and night time diversions. Also don’t miss “The Saloon” for great pub and better fare. Kids will love the train that encircles most of the multi-story restaurant. Pearl River is also an easy commute to NYC as there is a train station. Housing is diverse ranging from modest to well into the millions
