Haverstraw, the Harbors, and Everything in Between

The are tons of misconceptions about where I live, down at the Harbors in Haverstraw. Trust me, I hear these comments all over the County. Everywhere you go, somebody has an opinion about the luxurious river front community along the banks of the widest part of the Hudson river. Some comments I hear most frequently are… “How’s construction doing, I heard they stopped building…I heard it’s dusty and you can’t breath there because of Tilcon…Why did they make so many steps…The townhomes are too narrow, etc.” Perhaps even more on the hot seat is the Village of Haverstraw, everybody in Rockland County has an opinion on this historic Village, even when they haven’t been down Main Street in 5+ years! Some remarks I hear all the time about Haverstraw are… “The Village will take 10+ years to turn around…Haverstraw will never be nice until they clean up the streets…I feel bad for the people on Main St. and Broadway that will be relocated b/c of the Ginsburg project…etc.”

As you can see, there are a lot opinions floating around out there about my beloved hometown of Haverstraw. This forum will help separate fact from fiction for all things Haverstraw and show that most things you hear about “The Straw” are just plain out, made up!
