Haverstraw Restaurant Spotlight : Union Restaurant and Bar Latino : Dining on the Metapan

Hey there everybody!

Well, summer is finally here and the sweltering heat has hit the tri-state area.  Things have been so busy for me lately in the real estate world which is a good thing but I haven’t had a chance to blog, which is not a good thing.  Anyhow, I managed to make a video last Saturday night when my fiance and I decided to walk into Haverstraw and eat at Union Restaurant and Bar Latino.  Sounds like a normal night right?  Wrong!  We decided to eat outside on the newly created back patio called the Metapan.  Metapan is a beautiful city located in the Central American “pais”, El Salvador.  The connection is that head chef David Martinez is salvadoreno, (which means he comes from El Salvador).

When we first at arrived at the restaurant, we had a couple of drinks at the bar.  I had a bottle of Grolsch lager and Heather had a mojito, which are really good and a popular drink at Union.  After we worked up a big appetite, it was time to check out the Metapan.

The patio is gorgeous, first off, it is covered with beautiful hand crafted wood beams and a see through plexiglas material so you can see above you and eat if there is a quick summer shower.  Not only that, there are two overhead fans that made the area very breezy and cool even though it was over 80 degrees outside.  There are pretty lights above you that make it look like a starry night.  The floor has stone pavers and the entire area is enclosed with a nice wood fence that keeps the area private and tranquil.

For appetizers we had the pizza a la plancha and the quesidillas.  For dinner we split the carne asada, which came with green beans and yucca in a cream sauce.  Obviously the food was amazing, we knew that before we came.  But the Metapan stole the show, we felt like we were on vacation because the atmosphere was so relaxing.  Between the views of the Ramapo mountains, the chill beats coming through the outside speakers and the sound of running water coming from the fountains that surround the patio the night was perfect.

OK, enough of my talking, check out the footage yourself!
