Harbors at Haverstraw : Neighbors Cleanup “The Lost Beach”
Good morning everybody!! How are you today?
Yesterday morning, 10/10/09, residents from The Harbors at Haverstraw, Renewhaverstraw.com, Keep Rockland Beautiful and neighbors from the village of Haverstraw, got together to help cleanup a beautiful beach that sits quitely in front of an estuary on the south end of The Harbors at Haverstraw.
For the past few years, Harbors residents have been hanging out at the beach to enjoy sunsets or sunrises, or to walk out into the Hudson during low tide. Personally, every time I take a walk down to the beach it always gives me inspiration. The goal was to move 40 oversize tires that were littered on the beach for decades. By the end of the day, the hard work of about 15 people hauled over 30 tires off the beach. These tires had to be dug out of the ground using shovels, then once the tire was lifted, the inside had to be scooped out. To keep it short, it was a LOT of work.
I was really impressed with the dedication of my neighbors and it made me feel proud to live at the Harbors. Now check out my video.
