I’m feeling great lately despite the setbacks the Village has had recently with The Streetscape debacle. However, I will save you the moaning and groaning and try to focus on something positive.

Do you know where Warren Ave. is in the Village of Haverstraw? You should, because not only has the Village built an unbelievable softball stadium there but, get this, there is a paved trail that goes around the bay and connects all the way to the base of Main Street! Thats right people, there all ready is a walking trail that connects the downtown, now, why the Village can’t connect the Harbors at Haverstraw walking trail with the preexisting one in the Village is beyond me.

Enjoy the “music video”, this one is special…

I must hear this several times a week, whether at the grocery store, dry cleaner or the hockey rink. And my answer, “Great, things are really moving. If they are priced right.” And that is the truth, if your home is priced right, then it is going to sell, and it is going to sell rather quickly. There are many qualified buyers out there, and between the low interest rates and the first time homeowner’s credit, these people want to buy and they want to buy now. I am finding that many homes are getting offers on them in the first week they are on the market, but these home are priced perfectly. If you are thinking of selling your home, I would be happy to sit down with you and talk about the pricing of your home. Or if you are thinking of buying, let me know, I am sure I will find the perfect home for you. So, wondering how the market is doing in Rockland County, well it is doing GREAT!! Kacy Coyle Dow, Licensed RE Salesperson, 845-536-1863, k.coyledow

The Tappan Library has gone through several incarnations. It got its start in Shanks Village after the Second World War, and about fifty years ago moved to its present location in the former Moritz Funeral Home building on Main Street in Tappan. Since then, two additions have been constructed.

Even so, the library now finds itself filled to the point where a book added means a book removed, and there is no room for providing the kinds of services that our patrons expect. To resolve this problem, the Tappan Library bought the building next to it, known as the Livery Stable, or more informally among Tappan’s residents as Paul Melone’s barn.

As president of the Tappan Library board of directors, I presented the plans for expansion last week at the Orangetown Planning Board meeting. We are proposing to connect the stable to the library, and by doing so, substantially increase the library’s usable space. In order to accomplish this, the stable will have to be raised by two feet on a new foundation, which will bring it out of the flood plain and make the floors of the two buildings more on level with each other. The two floor connecting structure will be set back far enough to minimize the appearance of mass, and allow the two buildings to maintain their separate appearance. Because the buildings are in Tappan’s Historic District, care has also been taken to use appropriate materials.

When it is finished, the library will have more space for its children’s collection, and a new crafts space, an area for high school students, more meeting and exhibition space, and more space for our growing audio-visual collection and ebook collection, plus an area for the Tappantown Historic Society to house its collections.

This project has taken many years to get to the point where it is now, and we hope that with the permit process started, we will see its completion in the not too distant future.

Good evening everybody! How are you tonight?

As I hear the wind howl and I watch the latest storm outside my window here at The Harbors at Haverstraw, the only thought going through my head is, “Should I go skiing tomorrow?

On one hand, the NY resorts, IE Hunter & Windham have received about 3 1/2 feet of snow in these past 72 hours so you would think conditions would be EPIC. However, this snow is what we call in the ski world, “cement mix” or the “ACL special” meaning that this heavy snow is tough to ski in and will cause funky twists and turns in your knees. Especially if you are like me and live in the trees and bump runs.

Then there is waking up early and driving through the storm to get there. Oh well, in the meantime, I will continue to enjoy the show and check Skireport.com first thing in the morning and see who got the most snow, then make my decision. Life of a powder hound…

I recently posted a video from my trip to Beavercreek two weeks ago but left out one “cool” thing. That would be The Crystal Grotto which is located at the top of the Centennial lift. It is a theatre built completely of ice! Yes, it has a front and back entrance with stadium style seating. We went there for the 1 pm show which was great because we get to ski while waiting for the show to begin. The show was really amazing, kinda hard to put into words really. That is the beauty of video, lets check it out and did I mention all the instruments are made of ice as well…

Good Afternoon Everybody! How Are You Today?

Almost two years (hard to believe its been that long) Main Essentials in Haverstraw closed its doors and moved its healthy vegan cuisine down to Nyack. After the long wait, La Cultura has opened its door where Main Essentials previously was on 41 Main Street in the Village of Haverstraw.

La Cultura offers the “meat” of the day as well along with a rice and beans dish with a fresh steamed veggie plate. However, what separates La Cultura from Main Essentials is it vast healthy affordable menu that features falfels and hummus with tahini (my favorite cause I’m Israeli), whole wheat wraps and burritos, fajitas and everythjing else youy can think of. Another big difference between ME and La Cultura is that La Cultura has real meat and dairy options if you don’t care for vegan or vegetarian cuisine. Try one of the many sandwiches named after Dominican and Puerto Rican Baseball Stars like my favorite (Sandwich not ballplayer) The Manny, a chicken cheese steak with peppers, onions, mushrooms and cheddar jack cheese, yummy! There is a lunch menu and a dinner menu so you can go at night for nice quite meal.

The inside has great ambiance as it is decorated with art done by local patrons and on the weekends you might even catch a live jam session or drum circle and you can participate if you like. This is exactly the kind of place that the Village needs now. Healthy, affordable, artsy and musical, truly a great combo, I wish them the best of luck.

Check out my video, short but sweet, until next time…

Recently, my front door handle to my apartment at The Harbors at Haverstraw was very loose. This is one of those house chores that you put off for months. But, on this day I finally decided to call the only person I would consider using and that is Noel Rappaport. Noel’s main business location is at 31 Main Street in the Village of Haverstraw, there are two other locations in New City and Pomona. Noel has long been an advocate of the Village and dedicates his time towards improving the quality of life in the downtown area.

I took a video of the shop and his worker helping me out with my door, enjoy the movie, until next time.

Good evening everybody! How are you?

I just got back from skiing in Colorado to find that NY got some POW as well! However, the 1,000 ft. hills of the east cannot compare to the 10,000 ft. peaks of ‘Rado where the base of the mountain is 6,000 ft. However, I took some great videos in the trees but I will save that for another post.

Now its time for business, there are currently 16 homes for sale down here at The Harbors at Haverstraw. Including my listing, the obvious class of the bunch, *wink*wink* , at 3 Bridge Lane!!! Anyhow, I just sold 3213 Leeward Drive to a client of mine and that should close in about a month, so stay tuned for that blog for the actual selling price.

Here’s your free info, enjoy! Ask me questions, lots and lots of questions! Come see these condos with me even if you have zero interest in buying, I can change your mind.
