Everyday ways to save some cash
Hi again, it’s been awhile, but I’m back to share more ways to keep a few extra dollars in your wallet……..
1–Rent movies with your family and have movie night at home more often. I don’t have to tell you how much money this will save!
2–Instead of Friday night pizza, make one with your kids–want to spend about $12 to $15 a week or a few dollars for dough?–by the way, Rockland Bakery sells dough–remember, grow your own tomatoes and use them for the sauce!
3–Wash & vaccum your car–yourself.
4–Take books out of the local library instead of buying–or swap with friends.
5–Have kids? Find fun and free activities The Hudson River Museum in Yonkers has free Friday nights in their Andrus Planetarium. Check it out at www.hrm.org OK, some may think Yonkers is a hike, but it’s worth it.
6–Go cycling/walking along the water @ Hook Mountain or Rockland Lake–bring a picnic lunch. You can go to the pier in Piermont too, but be aware of the cycling rules that are posted.
7–Since leasing programs aren’t so great right now, try buying a used car (1-3 yrs old) w/ dealer warranty. Sometimes dealers have cars/trucks on the lot that aren’t advertised, like a corporate car or the manager’s car–ask if there are any and then make a deal–sometimes they can be leased as well.
8–Buy out the lease on your current vehicle @ lease end. Even though the buyout price is determined at the original lease signing, there is a chance that it is negotiable at the end…but you have to do your research on current value and condition, then ask…dealers or financing companies usually won’t offer the fact that it may be negotiable for you.
9–On that note, if you are going to buy out your lease or just buy in general, shop around ALOT for the best interest rates…ask a sales person in the dealership what companies they are using….and don’t forget about checking out car loans with a credit union………even if you don’t belong to one you can gain access to potential loans if you have a relative who is a member–and they ususally have pretty compeitive rates/terms.
OK, that’s enough for this time!! Happy Saving!!
