Duke Ocean Grill….Chic atmosphere plus

Duke Ocean Grill opened in November and is now Rockland County’s largest restaurant. This stylish eatery spared no expense in creating a unique dining experience. Although it is located in a somewhat drab strip mall on route 303 in Tappan, NY, this once dingy and cavernous grocery store has undergone a major transformation. Featuring in-house dry aged beef, raw bar, extensive wine selection and an upscale sushi carousel, it is tastefully decorated in such a way that you forget it actually seats 400. I have dined here a number of times and have never been disappointed. I always enjoy the raw bar and am partial to the west coast oysters. On one occasion I had a mushroom soup du jour that was fabulous, the aged beef was prepared with care and served with delicious truffle mashed potatoes and baby string beans. The sushi, although not gourmet, has always been bright and plentiful. The professional wait staff is proud of this unique restaurant and it shows, waiters are attentive and friendly. Right now, there is a super special for $19.99…. 1 ½ lb lobster with 1 dozen little neck clams. What a great introduction to Rockland’s newest dining experience! Entrée prices are moderate to high and you may want to call ahead for reservations, especially weekend evenings. Open for both lunch and dinner. Buon appetite!
