Celebrating Mardi Gras at Nyack’s Casa del Sol
The revelers were out on Saturday night in Nyack to celebrate the beginning of Mardi Gras. The restaurant, Casa del Sol, was especially hopping as we were all dancing to the energetic, R&B & Funk sounds of Frankie D and the Boys. They play often in Nyack and know how to keep the crowd dancing and the party going. Gina Sansone, the owner of Casa del Sol, was the perfect host to a great party. She worked the crowd with a big smile, passing out beaded necklaces, and selling Mardi Gras T-Shirts to benefit the Nyack Schools. Many friends, such as Nicole and her Nyack High School Alumni gang were there having a great time. I also saw some friends from the Nyack Boat Club, and neighbors from South Nyack. On Fat Tuesday, many of the Nyack Restaurants will be hosting music. This is the 2nd year that Nyack has formally celebrated Mardi Gras by hosting events at Riverspace, having Scavenger Hunts, and, Jambalaya Cook-offs to name a few. Hopefully the festive tradtion will continue for many years to come. Tell your friends to come to Nyack and enjoy the festivities!
